Welcome, to the 5th
Annual Buddy Walk of South Plainfield-Serving Central New Jersey. We want
to make October 4, 2008 a fun and exciting day. Let me give you some background on what a "Buddy Walk"
is exactly.
The Buddy Walk was developed by the National Down Syndrome Society in 1995 to promote acceptance and awareness of people
with Down syndrome. The Buddy Walk is a one-mile advocacy walk in which anyone can participate and bring a special Buddy.
When the walk started in 1995 there were 17 walks but as of today there are more than 260 walks across the country
and around the world. In 2007 the Buddy Walks raised over $9.5 million to benefit national education, research and advocacy
initiatives, as well as local programs and services.
Thank
you for your help!
